Pentagram Eye Hospital is the hospital of the year in the category “Clinical collaboration and teamwork”

This is the fourth golden statuette for the medical institution from the prestigious MEDICAL AWARDS, which recognize the best doctors and hospitals in Bulgaria

At a ceremonial event at the Astoria Grand Hotel in Sofia, MC and SOBAL ‘PENTAGRAM’ were among the awardees for the third year in the prestigious Medical Awards 2026. They recognize the best medical institutions and professionals, selected by a professional jury composed of major professional organizations and specialized journalists. The organizer of Medical Awards – one of the most prestigious medical events of the year – is the communication agency VIP Communications.

MC and SOBAL ‘PENTAGRAM’ received a golden statuette in the category „Clinical cooperation and teamwork“, which is of key importance for the work of any medical institution.

Team spirit is something that has consistently accompanied MC and SOBAL ‘PENTAGRAM’ throughout all the years, ever since the clinic was founded back in 2012.

At the core of today’s successful eye hospital are Dr. Risto Traykovski, Dr. Tanya Bozeva, Dr. Plamen Georgiev и Dr. Tsvetelina Popova-Ivanova. Fourteen years ago, they entrusted the medical and managerial talent of Dr. Veselin Daskalov and decided to follow him in this new and challenging endeavor for its time.

Shortly after, Dr. Ralitsa Kermedchieva, Dr. Elena Talatska, Dr. Maria Benova, Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Dabov и Dr. Marieta Pencheva joined and formed the core of the hospital’s strong ophthalmology team, which has remained unchanged to this day.

Among the pioneers at MC ‘PENTAGRAM’ are specialists in obstetrics and gynecology – Dr. Konstantsa Tosheva – Daskalova и Dr. Eleonora Tsandeva, who have managed to make women’s health one of the main priorities of the medical institution.

Gradually, guided by the concept of modern medicine, which implies a holistic approach to patient treatment, Dr. Daskalov invited specialists in other fields: cardiology, endocrinology, neurology. And for about two months, the medical institution also has a specialist in ENT diseases.

At the same time, from the very beginning, the Specialized Eye Clinic ‘PENTAGRAM’ has also been a training base for future ophthalmologists in Bulgaria. Six of them have already successfully completed their specialization and brought new strength and energy to the cohesive team of the hospital, while nine young doctors are currently in training.

Today, the Eye Clinic and Medical Center ‘PENTAGRAM’ is a modern healthcare facility offering excellent quality medical services and personal attention to every patient. The clinic is equipped with the latest generation of equipment for diagnosis, conservative, and surgical treatment of a wide range of diseases, including in children. The new building, which was ceremoniously opened last summer, features a modern operating block with four operating theaters, an anesthesiology office, a preoperative preparation room, and postoperative recovery room.

SOBAL ‘PENTAGRAM’ is a leader in the treatment of severe, socially significant diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal and vitreous body diseases, corneal diseases, keratoplasty and others, while its manager – Dr. Veselin Daskalov is among the most sought-after ophthalmic surgeons in Bulgaria for complex cases involving these diseases.

Among the leading areas of the eye clinic is laser eye surgery – a modern, safe, and extremely precise method that allows vision correction for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The procedures are performed with state-of-the-art laser systems, ensuring maximum precision, a short recovery period, and excellent long-term results.

With last night’s award, SOBAL and MC ‘PENTAGRAM’ now have in their portfolio four golden statuettes from Medical Awards. In 2025, the healthcare facility became Hospital of the Year in the category ‘Quality and Safety in Medicine.’ In 2024, ‘PENTAGRAM’ earned recognition both in group categories and in those that highlight individual medical specialists. At that time, the clinic received the award for ‘Innovations in Medicine,’ and its manager and chief eye surgeon – Dr. Veselin Daskalov – was recognized as the ‘Doctor Patients Trust.’
